Factory reset is requested when new software build installation goes wrong or some issue happens just after installation. Also if some installed plugin crashes, a factory reset could be useful to reset the entire system settings.
Factory reset erase system/network settings and the scanned music libraries (not files, once resetted you need to scan again your local music libraries from SOURCES MENU).
