What you need to listen to music
A hi-fi system has four parts: a streamer (gets the music from your services and library), a DAC (turns the digital signal into sound), an amplifier (gives the sound power) and speakers. Some products combine several of these parts in one box.
Rivo is a pure digital streamer: it's designed for people who already have a DAC and an amplifier, so on its own it can't play music through speakers. If you're starting from scratch, these are the easiest ways to begin.
The simplest start: Primo + active speakers
Active speakers have the amplifier built in. Connect them to a streaming DAC from the Primo family, such as Primo V3, and you have a complete hi-fi system, ready to play. Its adjustable output levels make it easy to match any speakers.
With passive speakers: Primo + amplifier
Passive speakers need an amplifier. Connect any Primo to an integrated amplifier (the classic amplifier with a volume knob) and you're ready to play. Primo Plus can also connect directly to a power amplifier, because it controls the volume itself.
